The Tibetan Plateau has some of the highest grasslands in the world. At an elevation of more than 3,000 meters above sea level, the Zoige County and Ruoer'gai Grasslands are a visual treat for tourists. This region is a vast alpine meadow spread over 10,500 square kilometers and is endowed with the most spectacular scenery. The best time to visit is between July and September when there are large flocks of migratory birds on the Flower Lake. Other tourist attractions include the ancient Buddhist Langmu Temple and the “S” shaped “First Bend of the Yellow River” scenic spot. While in the region you must try their local delicacies like the roast lamb, cheese cookies, and yak-butter tea.
