Jianshui Confucius Temple

The Jianshui Confucius Temple (Jianshui Wenmiao) located in Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China has the distinction of having been renovated and extended at least 50 times since it was built. Spread over a vast area of 76,000 square meters, the architecture of the temple is an exact copy of the Confucian temple in Qufu. The complex has 37 main structures consisting of artistically designed halls, pavilions, courtyards, memorials, arches, ponds, bridges, and more. The impressive statue of Confucius in the Ancestral Master Hall is still revered and worshiped. On the 28th of September (Confucius’ birth date) each year, the temple celebrates the Confucius Culture Festival, when there are a colorful parade and other enjoyable activities.
