Celestial Capital Peak

Huangshan, China

Meaning "capital of the immortals", the 1,830 meters tall Celestial Capital Peak is a challenging attraction. In 1937, a total of 1,564 steps were built to ascend to the peak. The steps are protected with iron chains and stone banisters for the safety of the climbers. Many tourists make the effort of climbing to the peak because it gives one of the most spectacular bird's eye view of Mount Huangshan and its surrounding valleys. At the top, the peak is flat and can hold ten people at a time. If you climb from the southern side you can descend on the northern side where there are a few hotels for refreshments and a much-needed break.
