Four Gates Pagoda

Believed to be the only existing single-storied square stone pagoda, the Four Gates Pagoda dates back to the Sui Dynasty. It is located on the Qinglong Mountain near Jinan City, Shandong Province, China. The pagoda is 15 meters tall and 7 meters wide. Other factors that make this pagoda unique is that its pavilion has four massive arched doorways in the four cardinal directions that face four Buddha statues. The pagoda’s ceiling has a well-crafted stone steeple with carvings of Buddhist teachings. The steeple’s foundation is also a Sumeru platform with intricate carvings. The Pagoda’s beautiful architecture and picturesque hilltop scenery make it a major tourist attraction throughout the year.
