Tomb of Yusup Hazi Hajup

Kashgar, China

The Tomb of Yusup Hazi Hajup is located in Kashgar City, China. It is spread over an area of 965 square meters. The tomb was built in honor of the 11th century Uigur philosopher and poet, Yusup Hazi Hajup. The architecture of the tomb is unusual because it is circular inside and has a square shape on the outside. With a 11-meter high central dome and 10 minarets covered with blue and white tiles, the tomb looks like something out of the Arabian Nights stories although it is in China. With landscaped gardens, wooden carvings on the walls and pillars, and colorful tiling, the mosque is an architectural treat.
