Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture (Guhezhou) is located in Gansu Province, China. The local population belongs to the Islamic Hui group which is a big Chinese-Muslim ethnic group. The region is famous because it has an abundance of natural beauty and a few shrines. The Liujiaxia Reservoir here is the largest inland lake situated on high hills. There are ancient grottoes and picturesque caves on the cliffs which were discovered in 420 A.D. Another famous Islamic shrine built during the Yuan Dynasty, the Nanguan Mosque is also situated here. Other scenic areas within the Prefecture include the Lianhua Mountain Nature Reserve and the Songmingyan National Forest Park.
