September 18th History Museum

Shenyang, China

September 18th 1931 was the onset of a dark and sad period in China. Therefore, the September 18th History Museum contains relics that show the events of that day. On that date the Japanese army supposedly bombed a bridge at a railroad crossing that was owned and operated by them. They blamed the bombing on the Chinese rebels. Using this as a pretext, the Japanese invaded China. This large museum has an impressive building shaped like an open book. The exhibits include documents, photographs, old artillery, firearms, wax figures, torture devices, human skeletons, and concrete portions of the original railroad bridge.
