Astana Graves
Turpan, China
Astana Graves is an ancient cemetery located 25 miles away from Turpan, in vicinity of the Gaochang city archaeological site. It is visited by thousands of tourists each year. The cemetery complex contains more than a thousand tombs. However, the visitors can see only three mummies exposed laying in their glass coffins. The level of body preservation is shocking. Estimated visit time is thirty minutes and the entrance fee is very cheap, only 20 RMB. A lot of interesting findings from this archaeological site can be seen in the Turpan and Urumqi museums.
