Misty Rain Promenade (covered walkway)

Xitang, China

The Water Town of Xitang in the Zhejiang Province of China is considered the “Oriental Venice” and is a probable UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its canals have 104 bridges that date back to the Ming Dynasty. Another unique feature of this town is its covered walkways or corridors that protect pedestrians from the rain. One such treasure is the Misty Rain Promenade, which is a popular place for local and overseas tourists. The walkway is lined with countless teahouses that serve aromatic local brews. There is also a plethora of small cafes along the promenade where you can try out the Yellow Cake, glutinous rice dumplings, red crabs, stinky tofu, and steamed pork accompanied by the local rice wine.
