Shenzhen Metro

In Mainland China, Shenzhen was the sixth city to have a subway. The rapid transit system has a length of 178.44 kilometers. Among other metro systems in China, Shenzhen Metro is one of the most convenient and uncomplicated methods of travel. Here’s more information about the Shenzhen Metro System:

Cost

Shenzhen Metro System employs a system where the farther you travel, the higher the amount you have to pay. At 4 kilometers or 2.5 miles, the fare starts at CNY2. CNY1 is added for the next 4 kilometers you travel. If the distance goes 12 kilometers or 7.5 miles farther, CNY1 is added to the fare for every extra 6 kilometers or 4 miles. It charges CNY1 per extra 8 kilometers or 5 miles after 24 kilometers or 15 miles.

On another note, there are preferential prices for children and senior citizens over the age of 65.

Children

If the child is being accompanied by a paying adult and is under 4 feet in height, he or she can get a ride for free.

The child can pay half of the full price if he or she is between 1.2 to 1.5 meters or between 4-5 feet in height.

However, if the paying adult brings 2 children with him or her, only one of the kids is charged for free whilst the remaining child needs to pay.

People with disabilities (PWD) and senior citizens over the age of 65 can also have free rides.

Operating Hours

The hours of operation of the Shenzhen Metro System operates from 6:30 in the morning to 12:00 noon. On busy hours, the availability of trains in some lines is at every 2 minutes. Basically, eight (8) minutes is the average frequency of trains.
