Zhengzhou Chenghuang Miao (City God Temple)

Constructed during the Ming Dynasty, the Zhengzhou Chenghuang Miao (City God Temple) has an impressive structure and tall gates. The main hall has a statue of Chenghuang, the town God, dressed in a judicial costume. It also has a mural that covers three large walls depicting the ethos of the socialist revolution. This is not a place of prayer anymore and no religious rites are performed here. But there are some classic exhibits here that show the cultural transformation that has taken place in China since ancient times. The first hall has and artistic sculptures of a phoenix and a dragon.
