Baijian Lou
Nanxun, China
Baijan Lou is a group of 100 houses on the outskirts of the Nanxun Ancient Town, Zhejiang Province, China. These houses have a total length of 400 meters and are 400 years old. They were built by Dong Fen who was a Ming Dynasty minister. They are built along the banks of the river and are interconnected through tall archways. The local people still live a simple subsistence by fishing and going about their everyday chores. But what makes it a tourist attraction is the fact that it is still a major producer of handmade silk items. Yet, it is not a commercialized market but a small and picturesque town worth visiting.
