Dajiu Lakes Wetland
The Dajiu Lakes National Wetland Park of China lies at an altitude of 1,730 meters above sea level. It is a vast scenic area that spreads into the Sichuan and Hubei provinces and the Chongqing municipality. It is a spectacular landscape that alternates between sub-tropical mountainous forests and flat river basins and wetlands. Consequently, it is a diverse ecosystem with a bountiful of flora and fauna. It has some of the rarest creatures in the world like the white cranes, golden monkeys, golden eagles, and many more migratory birds. The wetlands also have some species of “fossil plants” that seem to have survived since the ice ages. A must-see for naturalists and biologists!
