Xinjiang Museum

Situated in the Urumqi City, China the Xinjiang Museum has a large collection of 50,000 cultural relics found in the region. Spread over a large expanse of 7,800 square meters, the museum's architecture and interior design have typically Uigur ethnic facets. There are artifacts that the Uigur's used during marriage ceremonies, religious ceremonies, and festivals. Some of the relics are made with wood, iron or bronze. There are festival items representing 12 different minority tribes of the region. The historical items include brocade, ancient pottery, stone inscriptions, tomb statuettes, coins, and weapons. Their collection of ancient corpses shows how advanced their ancient embalming techniques were.
