Meixi Arches

Zhuhai, China

The Meixi Royal Stone Archways (Meixi Paifang) are ancient buildings in the Meixi Village near Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China. Since ancient times, arches were built to commemorate people of high virtue and integrity. The original arches at the Meixi Village covered an area of 126,000 square meters and were considered the most precious relics in the area. Today only three of the arches remain intact. Known as the Former Residence of Chen Fang, the arches include a lotus pool, a landscaped garden, an octagonal pavilion, and a cemetery. The 12-meters tall arches were built on the order of the Qing Dynasty Emperor to honor Chen Fang.
