Guangqi Park (Tomb of Paul Guangqi)
This park is also known as “tomb of Paul Guangqi”. Xu Guangqi was a Chinese who was baptized and named Paul. He was an agricultural scientist, astronomer, mathematician, scholar-bureaucrat and a Catholic convert, who was under Ming dynasty. This tomb remains to be the centerpiece in Shanghai’s park of Guangqi which is located on the Nandan road south of the cathedral of Xujiahui. It is a beautiful and peaceful park where the locals enjoy chatting, dancing, walking, playing instruments and singing. This is a park which is dedicated to the scientist that fought for the sake of religious freedom in the Republic of China. His family has been buried in this park.
