Galden Jampaling Monastery

In the Chamdo District of Tibet, China you will find a beautiful 15th-century Gelug Buddhist temple called the Galden Jampaling Monastery. It lies at the confluence of the Zaqu and Angqu Rivers and has beautiful surroundings. The main deity is Byams-pa (Maitreya, Laughing Buddha or the God of Tolerance) and Jampaling means “place of loving kindness”. You will also find serene statues of Sakyamuni Buddha, Atisha, and Atisha. Other relics include the artistic murals on the walls and thangkas (sutras painted on silk cloth). The Butter Sculpture Festival is celebrated each year on 16th March with the spectacular “Guqing” God Dance.
