Located near Guilin, China the Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge is an engineering masterpiece of ancient times which still exists. The bridge has several names like Yongji, Panlong, Flower, or Blessing Bridge. It was built by the Dong ethnic minority community of China. The Dong folk are well-known for their mathematical and engineering expertise since ancient times. Their talent at building bridges from stone and wood is extraordinary. The Wind and Rain Bridge has gigantic stone piers. Over these, the bridge, pillars, pagodas, pavilion, floors, and the railings are constructed with cedar wood which has not rotted to date. The entire bridge has no rivets or nails to keep it in place!
