Thousand Buddha Mountain (Qianfo Shan)

Also called Li Shan or Qianfo Shan, the Thousand Buddha Mountain is located near Jinan City, Shandong Province, China. It is called so because thousands of Indian-Buddhist statues were discovered in the mountain caves. They were carved over numerous centuries during the Sui, Northern Wei, Tang, and the Song Dynasties. Along with Jueshan Mountain nearby, Qianfo Shan is a very scenic spot. The sites include the Xingguo, Wenchang, and Shun temples, as well as the Wanfo Cave (Thousand Buddha Cave), Nine Spots Terrace, etc. The architecture and the surrounding scenery makes the mountain one of the most sought-after attractions in the region.
