Medog
Nyingtri, China
A popular route for trekkers and backpackers, the Medog (Metok or Motuo) County is located in the Nyingtri Prefecture, Tibet, China. The County lies in the picturesque valley of the Yarlung Tsangpo River at an elevation of 600 meters and is spread over an area of more than 30,000 square kilometers. The region is famous for the Medog National Animal and Plant Reserve Area, a wildlife conservation area which boasts of more than 3,000 varieties of plants and 42 species of animals. Besides a bountiful of natural beauty, there are also vast thriving farmlands growing paddy, and cash crops like cotton, soybean, gingeli, and more.
