Fayu Temple

Spread over an area of 33,000 square meters, the Fayu Temple is located on the Putuo Shan Island, Zhoushan archipelago, Zhejiang Province, China. The buildings consist of the Jade Buddhist Hall, Emperor Tablet Hall, Fangzhang Hall, Heavenly Kings Hall, and the Nine-Dragon Guanyin Hall. The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Guanyin who is considered the Goddess of Mercy by the Taoist Buddhist sect. The statue of Guanyin is surrounded by 18 statues of Arhats. The highlight of the temple is the Nine-Dragon Hall. It has a wall covered with an exquisite mural of nine life-like dragons embossed with bluestone brought from the Forbidden City.
