Yulin Town
Yan'an, China
Yulin is a town in the Shaanxi Province of China where time seems to have stopped still! Being in a remote and isolated part of the country, it has retained its ancient look. The Shanbei section of the Great Wall built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties flanks the town on one side. Broken pieces of the damaged parts of the Wall are still strewn around the town. The most interesting sites here are the Red Stone Gorge and the Zhen Bei Tai watchtower. The Gorge is full of fascinating grottoes that have ancient Buddhist art and writings carved into the rock faces. The watchtower provides a panoramic view of the Great Wall and the town below.
