Jiele Great Golden Pagoda

Dehong, China

Considered the primary Buddhist temple in the Dehong County of Yunnan Province, China the Jiele Great Golden Pagoda is 7 kilometers from the Ruili Town. It has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over many centuries. Today’s pagoda was built in the 1980s and the central building is a magnificent 39.5-meters tall stone and brick structure. This central pagoda has 16 smaller pagodas around it. The dome of the main pagoda is paved with golden colored tiles and the smaller pagodas are painted with golden powder. So the entire complex looks very striking and grand against the blue skyline. The Water Splashing Festival held each year in January is the most enjoyable time to visit this site.
