Opium War Museum

The Opium War Museum is a one-of-its-kind tourist attraction in Humen Town, Guangdong Province, China. Relics of the Opium Wars fought in 1840-1842 and 1856-1860 are exhibited. The relics depict the wars fought and the historical destruction of opium by Lin Zexu. Lin was a Qing Dynasty politician, poet, and patriot. He is believed to have destroyed nearly 1,118,127Kgs of opium after the war in 1939 on Humen Beach. The Museum has three sections. The relics are exhibited in the main hall. There are ancient canons at the Weiyuan and Shajiao Emplacements. There is also a live model on sand tables with light and sound showing the interesting events of the Opium Wars and the destruction of opium.
