The Xilamuren Grasslands situated near the Baotou city of Inner Mongolia and just an hour away from Hohhot are the first grasslands of northern China that were developed into a tourist attraction. The word Xilamuren translates as “yellow river” because of the color of the flowers that cover the plateau in summer. The Xilamuren River runs through this region and is a favorite spot for tourists to spend the day and enjoy the beauties of nature. Nearby is also the Puhui Temple, which is considered the temporary living place of the Six Living Buddhas, where they meditated during the summer months.
