Huating Temple
Kunming, China
The Huating Temple is situated in the Xishan Mountain Forest Park near Kunming, China. It covers an area of 12,000 square meters and was first built during the Song Dynasty. The architecture is less imperial, but reflects more of the Confucian culture. The sections that you must definitely visit are the Hall of the Heavenly King, Mahavira Hall, Free Life Pond, Eight-Merit Pool, the Depository of Buddhist Sutras, and the Bell Tower. The golden statues of Sakyamuni, Amithabha, Ananda, Kassapa, and the Medicine Buddha in the Mahavira Hall are truly awe-inspiring! The fish pond with its red and white lotuses is also a sight to please the eyes.
