Great Wall of China at Shanhaiguan

Qinhuangdao, China

The Great Wall of China at Shanhaiguan (Shanhai Pass) is located in the beach town of Qinhuangdao in the Hebei Province of China. Built during the Ming Dynasty, it was the significant defense against potential invaders coming by land or via the Bohai Sea. The Wall is 14 meters high and 7 meters wide. It was so designed, that it was easy to protect but difficult for the Mongolian invaders to attack. The two-storied 13.7-meters tall eastern Zhendong Tower was the most effective defensive part of the Wall in the old days. Today, the wall is a major tourist attraction and trade route.
