Mengjiangnu Temple

The Mengjiangnu Temple is located near the Shanhai Pass in the Hebei Province of China. Situated on the Fenghuang Mountain (Phoenix Mountain), the temple has a very picturesque locale. Meng Jiangnu’s tragic love for her husband who died at a tender age while building the Great Wall is a major part of folklore in the region. The highlight of the temple is the colored statue of Meng Jiangnu with her two maidens, her love letters, poetry, and calligraphy. The best time to visit is between 28th and 30th May, when there is a temple fair with activities like singing, dancing, children’s activities, etc.
