Dabao Temple

Located 15Kms from Shangri-La, Yunnan Province, China the Dabao Temple is one of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist temples in the region. It is situated 3,300 meters above sea level on a hillside full of green pine trees and lush pastures. As you approach the temple you will see hundreds of prayer flags fluttering in the strong breeze and a valley dotted with grazing sheep. Besides natural greenery, you will also see a meadow with flowering plants, vast farmlands with potatoes, barley, and turnips flourishing on the rich soils. The Tibetans are very friendly and peace-loving folk. You must try out their yak-butter tea which is a specialty of the region.
