Daocheng

The town of Daocheng has the most splendid scenery because it is surrounded by superb alpine forests, meandering streams, crystal-clear lakes, gorges, lush pastures, and tall snow-capped mountains. It is situated at a height of 3,800 meters from sea level on the eastern Hengduan Mountains in Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, China. Tibetans consider the picturesque Jambeyang, Chanadorje, and Chenresig the three holy peaks of the area. The Pearl Lake which is at the foot of the Chenresig Mountain has an irresistibly placid beauty that defies description. Other attractions are the Chonggu Temple, the Gongga River banks, and the spectacular Five Color Lake whose water drops look iridescent in the sunlight.
