The Shennong Stream is one of the tributaries of the Yangtze River and is located in the Hubei Province of China. Having a length of 60Kms, the Stream traverses the Mianzhu, Longcangdong, and Parrot Gorges. The area is full of spectacular waterfalls, lakes, colorful karst caves, ethnic villages, ancient temples, monuments, pavilions, dense forests, and more. There are 8 waterfalls that have a drop of hundred meters and look fantastic against the backdrop of lush green trees. Being the locale of the Shennongjia Primitive Forest, the area has many animals like the snub-nosed monkeys, serows (antelope species), flying squirrels, and birds. The best way to explore the Stream’s scenic area is by the local “peapod” boat.
