Built in the 18th century, the Chengqi Lou Tulou (Hakka houses) within the Gaobei Cluster is well-known as “King of Tulous”. It is an impressive circular tulou having four concentric rings, with the outer ring having a diameter of 62 meters. It is four-storied and has 72 rooms on each floor. The floors are connected through two arched corridors four staircases. There are the family kitchens on the ground floor, storage pantries on the second, and living quarters on the 3rd and 4th floors of the outer ring. The second ring has two stories and 80 rooms. The third ring has one story with 32 rooms (total 370 rooms).
