Gulangyu
Xiamen, China
Gulangyu is an island situated across Xiamen. The Lu River splits the island from the city, but the ferry to Gulangyu only takes a couple of minutes. The island is small and has only 15,000 residents, but it offers beautiful scenery and incredible tranquility, which is contributed by the fact that cars are not allowed on the island.
Throughout history, Gulangyu was colonized by various countries. Today, you can see various structures that are part of different architectures. The island was pronounced a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2017. Aside from enjoying a breathtaking view of the sea and the city, you can also visit the only Piano Museum in China.
