Not just kids, but adults too will thoroughly enjoy a visit to the Underwater World in Xiamen, China. It is designed like a blue colored crystal palace and has a floor area of 7,500 square meters. At the entrance is a 6 meters tall and 11 meters wide brass octopus which is the aquarium’s mascot. The water world has four main sections – Marine Aquarium, Sperm-Whale Exhibition Hall, Freshwater Aquarium, and the Performance Hall of dolphins and sea lions. Besides being an entertaining place and a major tourist attraction, the Underwater World is also a national grade educational center. The sperm whale specimen is the largest in the world at 18.6 meters in length and weighing 48 tons.
