Temple of Universal Happiness (Pule Si)

Located in the Chengde County of Hebei Province, China is the lovely Temple of Universal Happiness (Pule Si). It was built on the orders of the Qing Dynasty Emperor to extend his hospitality towards prominent visiting members of the Chinese ethnic minority groups like the Tibetans or Mongols. The architecture is a unique mix of Imperial Chinese and Han styles and consists of the Hall of Heavenly Kings, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, and the Hall of the Ancestors. The Tibetan structures at the back are more colorful and bright. The highlight of the temple is the copper idol of Huanxi-fo or Buddha of Happiness.
