Dagu Shan (Dagu Mountain)
Dandong, China
Near Dandong city in the Liaoning Province of China is a splendid scenic spot called Dagu Shan (Dagu Mountain). The scenic area is not very large or high but has a forest of 1,000-year-old oak and gingko trees. These trees have odd shapes which have formed naturally over centuries. At the top of the mountain is the Queen of Heaven temple built during the Tang Dynasty. It is a combination of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism philosophies. It has massive courtyards made up of 100 pavilions, halls, and rooms. The mountain temple is the place where the Matsu culture was born and it is believed to be the biggest Matsu temple in China. Definitely worth a visit.
