Great Wall of China at Tiger Mountain

Dandong, China

Going along the China-North Korea border near Dandong is the Tiger Mountain Great Wall which was constructed during the Ming Dynasty. It is on a cliff overlooking the picturesque Yalu River and is a 1,005 meters long, narrow and steep gradient. There is a suspension bridge from where you can look into the North Korean farmlands and villages. But before you venture onto the bridge check with the sentries if it is permitted. The Wall has a small museum which houses a few weapons used in ancient times, and beautiful vases and dioramas. There is a board saying “One Step to Cross” which identifies the boundary guarded by soldiers on either side. Photography is banned!
