Being on the ancient Silk Route, the town of Hotan has always been a commercial hub. It is located in Xinjiang Autonomous Prefecture of China. The Sunday Market or the Hotan Bazaar is a weekly event still serves as the major trading junction. The local residents are a mix of Chinese, Tajiks, Kyrgyz, Uighurs, and Uzbeks people, who look forward to the weekly Bazaar. There is a surprising array of items being sold like carpet, silk, clothing, doppi (Uzbeki hats), pigments, yarn, cotton, wool, lumber, knives, vegetables, furniture, white nephrite jade (colloquially called mutton fat), medicines, spices, horse bridles, stoves, bikes, motorcycles, scrap metal, rebar, cows, horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, and, of course, delicious food.
