Gongga Shan

Also called Minya Konka, the Gongga Shan is the tallest mountain peak in the Garze Tibetan Prefecture in the Sichuan Province of China. Being part of the Daxue Shan range, it is flanked by the Dadu River on one side and the Yalong River on the other. Often called the “Monarch of Sichuan Mountains”. This 7,000-meters tall peak on the easternmost side of China is the third highest peak in the world after the Himalayan and the Karakoram peaks. Since the 19th century, it has been a very popular destination for serious mountaineers and trekkers. The region boasts of picturesque glacial mountain peaks, perennial rivers, dense alpine forests, Tibetan monasteries, and Tibetan ethnic settlements.
