<p>The Chongqing Rail Transit (CRT) is pretty different from the other railways because it runs through mountains, river valleys, and a lot of steep hills. Because of this, the CRT makes use of very advanced monorail tech in order for it to take the steep slopes and the sharp turns.</p>

<p>There are 6 lines in total and all of them operate from 6:30 in the morning to 10:30 at night. Take note that they may close earlier on holidays such as Christmas and New Year.</p>

<p><strong>How/Where to Buy Tickets</strong></p>
<p>If you want to buy a single journey ticket, then you may buy it at the station through the ticket vending machine or the ticketing window.</p>

<p>However, most people, locals in particular, choose to buy a Transport IC card instead. This card costs CNY25 and allows you to store credits which you can use in this public transportation. Another great thing about this card is that it allows you to have a discount of 10% on all public transportation modes. Other than that, you get 5 to 15% discounts on selected restaurants.</p>
