Du Fu's Thatched Cottage
Chengdu, China
Du Fu was a famous poet during the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907). When he had to move due to the An-Shi Rebellion, he found sanctuary next to the Flower Bathing Stream. It is believed that Du Fu and his family spent for years here during which he composed more than 200 poems.
Wei Zhuang, a poet during the Five Dynasties (907 – 960) rediscovered the cottage. Today, it is preserved as a museum dedicated to the work of Du Fu and a beautiful park. You can also find an archaeological museum with tools that people used during the Tang Dynasty.
