Huang Shan Western Steps
Huangshan, China
The Huang Shan Western Steps have the distinction of being the site where some scenes from the film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” were shot. You may also find it familiar because the Huangshan mountains figure extensively in Chinese paintings since ancient times. With its mist-covered peaks, bamboo forests, and peculiarly-shaped pine trees, the sight from the Western Steps is an unforgettable experience. This is a favorite spot for hiking but the steps get covered with mist and fog very fast. So if you seriously want to see the beautiful peaks in the region, then it is best to spare a few days to take advantage of the clear weather. For the less adventurous tourists, there are cable cars too.
