The Lu Shan Botanical Garden is located on Mount Lu in China’s Jiangxi Province. The garden is spread over an area of 300 hectares and has nine zones. They are the Pine Garden, Flower Area, Trees Area, Tea Plantation, Kiwi Fruit Area, Azaleas Garden, Green House, Stone Area, and Herbal Plants Area. There are over 3,400 species of plants and trees, which includes over 300 types of azaleas. The Herbal Plants section has 60,000 books on herbs besides plants. The highlight of the garden is the Metasequoia or Dawn Redwood Tree which is called the “living fossil”. It is a species of the Mesozoic Era that existed 65-79 million years ago but is still thriving.
