Meilu Villa

Lu Shan, China

Lu Shan (Mt. Lu or Kuanglu) has one of the most unusual tourist attractions you would expect to see in China. Located in the Jiangxi Province, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site full of European style 19th-century villas. During the Qing Dynasty reign, many Westerners were permitted to live in China for an extended period of time to help build hospitals and schools. Consequently, the foreigners built 600 villas; which region is now called the Lushan Geopark. Of these, the two-storied Meilu Villa is the most magnificent sight. Its architecture is a beautiful blend of Roman, Gothic, Islamic, and Japanese styles. It has been constructed without disturbing the natural terrain and vegetation in the area.
