Wudang Shan (Wudang Mountain) in the Hubei Province of China is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its fantastic scenery. It is a wonderful blend of superlative natural beauty and exquisitely designed ancient monuments and temples. Famous among these is the Nanyan Temple located on the southern cliff face of Wudang Shan. Around the temple complex are 500 ancient iron statues of prominent Imperial figures. The mountainous region and especially the temple, are the birthplace of the world-famous martial arts techniques like Shaolin Kungfu and Tai Chi. Beside Taoism, the monks are also followers of the Zen philosophy of life.
