Mausoleum of General Yue Fei

The Mausoleum of General Yue Fei (Yuewang Temple) was built to honor General Yue Fei of the Song Dynasty. He was a powerful, intelligent, and brave military leader who helped the Song Dynasty to win many battles against the Jurchen Jin Dynasty. It is located in Hangzhou near the West Lake, China. The central hall consists of a huge sculpture of Yue Fei who has a sword in one hand and a solemn expression. The walls are adorned with pictures that depict his glorious life and victories. The floor of the hall has a picture of 373 cranes. According to Chinese philosophy cranes are symbols of integrity and loyalty, hence the pictures.
