Hemudu Site Museum

Hemudu Site Museum is an archaeological site first discovered in 1973 in Yuyao County, Zhejiang Province. This striking historic site was built by the Hemudu culture members amazing 5000 to 7000 years ago! This Neolithic period culture is peculiar for its unique pottery, decorated and carved objects and the interesting wooden pile dwellings. The Hemudu people new how to produce charcoal-tempered pots. Additionally, the oldest known well in China belongs to the Hemudu culture as well and is located in the Hemudu Site Museum. Thousands of tourists visit this rich site and museum each year exploring the Neolithic culture remnants.
