About 120Kms from Xi’an, China is the Famen Si (Famen Temple) which is part of the Famen Temple Scenic Spot. It is a Buddhist temple built during the Eastern Han Dynasty. Being the oldest one in the region, it is also referred to as the “ancestor of pagodas”. The Scenic Spot is spread over a massive area of more than 86,600 square meters with 24 courtyards. The statue of Sakyumani is the main deity. Today, the area around the temple is a booming tourist attraction with hotels, multi-cuisine restaurants, teahouses, supermarkets, souvenir shops, and a scriptures museum. You can rent a battery-operated vehicle to explore the area at leisure.
