Temple of the Six Banyan Trees (Liurong Si)

The Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, also called the Liurong Temple is located in Guangzhou, China. The main structure in the temple complex is the Flower Pagoda which is so called because its eaves look like red flower petals. The Main Hall of the temple contains three exquisite copper Buddhist statues, those of Sakyamuni, Amitabha, the Apothecary Buddha. The statue of Maitreya or Laughing Buddha, who is a symbol of tolerance, is the focal point in the Tianwang Hall. The temple is well-known for its Lantern Festival during the Chinese New Year. At this time, the temple is crowded with devotees burning incense sticks good luck.
