About 80Kms from downtown Beijing, China is one of the most unexpected scenes you would expect. The Kangxi Grasslands that epitomize the exciting lifestyle of the Mongols are within a drivable distance from the city. Well-known for their expertise in equestrian sports, the Mongols host some of the biggest horse racing events in the world. Spread over a very vast area of 2,200 hectares, the Grasslands are dotted with yurts (tent-style accommodation for four people) that are ethnic but comfortable. The Badaling Great Wall, a popular tourist attraction is just 15Kms away. Tourists come here in large numbers to participate in activities like fishing, ice-skating, skiing, riding, sledding, and other winter sports.
